San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman hasn't been bashful about criticizing his former team's new direction. Since the two had a somewhat messy divorce in March, he hasn't held back on where he feels the Seattle Seahawks faults lie, as they try to reposition their team for the future. But for the first time in his Seahawks critiques, he's laying the blame on a culture shift that started much earlier than the 2018 offseason.

While talking to Sports Illustrated's Robert Klemko, Sherman addressed many things concerning his changing loyalties from the Emerald City back to the Bay Area near where his college years at Stanford took place. Chief among his latest words is a continued thought that his former team's mistakes are starting to compound year over year. Saying the team has lost their way isn't new coming from the outspoken corner but saying it's a process that dates over a long period of time is.

“They’ve lost their way. It’s as simple as that. They’ve just lost their way," he told Klemko in his piece over Sherman's cornerback summit. "When you make too many mistakes over a long period of time, you kind of dig yourself a hole. And then when you backtrack, you gotta make a bunch of rash decisions to try and fill the hole and hope that it holds up."

The organization has had their share of mistakes like any team over the last few years. They've had a series of a failed drafts and mishaps in free agency over the past few seasons that have scuttled their depth at times. But the only large "mistakes" you could really point towards would be paying their star defenders. Because of quarterback Russell Wilson's larger cap hit on his second contract and their defense deservedly aging into bigger deals, their once-proud depth has had to come through bargain deals in free agency and the draft.

Of course, they've had mix results in free agency (who doesn't) with signings like defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin and safety Bradley McDougald on the good side and running back Eddie Lacy and offensive tackle CHEREVICHKIOTVICHKISlipOn Loafers k7E445iBk
on the bad side. But, even their free agency mistakes amount to one-year deals that rectify themselves almost immediately. If anything has hurt their team over the years, it's having so many resources dedicated to their defense without leaving any for their offensive line, as they let players like James Carpenter , Russell Okung , Nike Performance FLEX TRAINER 8 Sports shoes guava ice/wolf grey/pure platinum noH7OFqH6h
and ATTICO Womens Mara Feathered Genuine Snakeskin Slingback Pump ZCMJ5oU2sF
leave in favor of paying star defenders instead of average linemen. The cost has been having to fill in the gaps with below average linemen in free agency. These mistakes don't seem to be the ones in which Sherman is referring.
